Sponge...nature's miracle

Aristotele, hommer, Plinios, Ailianos...they were always referring to this "subject" either at their works, stories or at their studies, with whatever knowledge they had at the time.

Today, after thousands of years most of us keep ignoring or dont know what is that thing living in the depths of the seas. Is it a kind of alien organism? Is it an animal? What ever it is the only certain is that it has been here long before us...about 600 mil years to be presice.

But we need to put a few things in a perspective. So what is a sponge?

Sponge start it's life as a tiny worm, travelling through the oceans looking for the ideal place to set it's home. When it locate that place it will stay there till the end of it's circle of life. That means it can be sand, stones, rocks, reefs...everywhere, even on a shipwrecks. As long the conditions are ideal, it can lay everywhere. Is like our world. Everything had to be perfect in order life take a form.

So when it settle it will start the long task of creating the sponge, which the compounds of sponge is proteins, carbs, and sponge fibers. We have about 5000 varieties of sponges but only a few are suitable for commercial use.
