Two very important facts about sponges are that offer a medicinal potential due to the presence of antimicrobial compounds. Also in 1997 studies show that sponges used as a tool from dolphins in the shark bay. A dolphin will attach a marine sponge to its rostrum to either protect it when searching for food in the sandy sea bottom or to heal it from scratches.
